The Indian space programme is set to enter a new orbit. Riding atop the Geo Synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III is India's indigenously developed crew module. This marks the beginning of what could be India's ambitious human space flight programme, a Rs 12,500 crore initiative by ISRO. On its maiden flight the module will not fly any humans. After launch from Sriharikota it will be recovered from the Bay of Bengal. India would become the fourth country after Russia, USA and China to have this capability. NDTV's Science Editor Pallava Bagla spoke exclusively to ISRO Chairman Dr K Radhakrishnan on the significance of this effort.
